We say goodbye to a upstanding president in every way, who respects his family and leads an exemplary life. We are forced to accept a man who is not legitimate to replace him and it is a disheartening place to be in.

I can only hope more people will speak out like Meryl recognizing the power of their voice.

I took a little time with this one as well. I watched the farewell speech, I watched the freedom award given to Biden, but I make it a point to not watch anything trump does or listen to anything he says, which is never much of anything. I think electing this man is disgraceful and a republican inexcusable move. Haven said that, I agree we need a Virgil and I think we have one. I also would like to see a divide with Obama elected to lead those of us anxious to separate from a corrupt system. I’m sick of the republicans cheating to get into positions that allow them to so disrupt and misuse our lives. I tearfully watched Obama’s farewell speech because I felt the anxiety of all those there who screamed “Four More Years”! I know the fears John Lewis knows when he says he doesn’t see trump as a legitimate president. There is no way this man can be seen as legitimate and/or honorable president when he can’t get or keep his ignorant ass off twitter. Many of us share and agree with congressman Lewis because this assessment is grounded in facts that make trump illegitimate. I’m all for all forms of rebellion. THE MAJORITY VOTE DID NOT MATTER AND THAT IS NOT A DEMOCRACY!!!! They can't keep trying to make it one either. HELL NO we are not going to just move past it passively and pretend all is well.

Unlike Obama I say rebel, resist, and revolt. I’m all for everyone refusing to pay taxes as long as we don’t have far and equal representation in congress. As long as the republican elected leader doesn’t pay taxes why should we? I don’t want to pay for his debts. I don’t want my tax dollars used to increase his private business endeavors. I don't want to pay for a congress that will rob us of our healthcare just so they can try to make sure a good, honorable president leaves no legacy, made no policy changes, and passed no laws simply because he is black. I personally think all minorities should be exempt from paying taxes. You want a white America then let only White people pay taxes, especially if they are voting republican.

The Russians are hacking into our news broadcast, doing what Putin does to his people, and that is hide the truth from them, telling them lies and allowing them to see and hear only what he wants then to see and hear. No this is not a legitimate president by any means.

Meryl Streep really affected me. She is a powerful voice and we need more brave, powerful voices like hers and Robert DeNiro, who wrote Meryl a letter commending her on speaking out at the Golden Globe Awards:

Meryl –
What you said was great. It needed to be said, and you said it beautifully. I have so much respect for you that you did it while the world was celebrating your achievements. I share your sentiments about punks and bullies. Enough is enough. You, with your elegance and intelligence, have a powerful voice – one that inspires others to speak up as they should so their voices will be heard too. It is so important that we ALL speak up.
We love you.

Bob

You know it’s serious when a quiet man like DeNiro starts being vocal.

Well leave it to Mason to get deeper with us LOL LOL LOL Knowing Obama is on his way out is incentive for me to stay in Italy. I’m a four more years person and since that can’t happen I’ll be an Italian citizen. I just can’t feel pride in the United States with this election.

I’m really impressed with Streep and I hope many in a position like hers will use their powerful voice and speak up for the injustice of this election. Bravo John Lewis, Bravo!!!

I with Tina. I’m glad I don’t live in America right now. We all saw this coming and I understand Mark’s feeling about remaining where he knows he will be most needed at this time. Obama showed all of us what it means to be a real upstanding leader, and as trump supports continue to try and make us forget what happen, all the elements of this disgraceful election and the outside interference. They want us to forget. To move passed it. To support this man who has proven time and time again how dangers a leader he is actually going to be. It’s just like the republicans to tell us to not believe our lying eyes. They are just like Putin, they want to limit what the public sees and hears and make sure they only hear and see what cast them in a favorable light. It is disgraceful and I commend you Mark and Mason for you decision to remain and help lead some of the opposition not just against trump but against the republicans.

I like all actors that stand up to this situation. Meryl did it beautifully and it was a moving moment for all of us.

I watched the speech you posted Mark. It was hard for me because I’m one of those people who know nothing but uncertainty about my future. I am now glad my job does not depend on anyone outside out Gnostic Group. My employment is secure. I’m lucky because my family is secure but I fear for all the horrible things trump and the republicans are trying to do to the American people beginning with the ACA. They have treated Obama bad from the moment he was elected. They are now trying to kill his biggest accomplishment while he was in office without care for who it will hurt. I’m so glad we have doctors of all kinds in our group. I feel blessed but very emotional about the Obamas leaving. The Bidens leaving. I hope he will remain active and stand with congressman Lewis in his belief that the elected president of the United States is not legitimate.

I was very impressed with Meryl Streep and I really hope people like her continue to speak up for all those who don’t have the voice she and those like her have.

Like DeNiro I am one of few words. I feel we are losing a superior leader for an idiot. It was sad, I wish he could stay. I agree with Congressman Lewis trump is not legitimate. I agree with him and I cried so much this past week. Cried when I watched Obama’s farewell speech. Cried when Biden spoke about their leaving, Cried when Obama awarded Biden with the Freedom Award. Cried when I saw how much the shared with us how much we were a part of their lives and knew that was going away. I know nothing but sorrow about this election. Nothing but sorrow and uncertainty.

I also am proud of Meryl Streep and I cried as she spoke when it hit me and I felt every bit of emotion her words invoked.
