I am native American but I have passed as white. I don’t have the problems most minorities have but I do know the struggle. I have to say, I’m glad there is video evidence of what is going on now but I always believed it was happening. We have had officers come in to the reservation and do things to our women we felt powerless to prevent. I am the product of such an encounter. My mother was raped and I am a product of that rape. My mother loved me despite how I was conceived and I don’t acknowledge my white heritage. I know who he is I always have and yes he is still alive. This is why what my sister did to me is so devastating for me. She was all I had and she abandoned me with ease. I dealt with an abusive father who resented me because of how I was conceived but my mother defended and protected me, even leaving with me to keep me safe. She took me and my sister and moved states away, starting a new life as a single mom. As we listen to the conformation hearings I think about how impossible it was for my mother to get an abortion after being a product of rape. She said she did consider it but she is glad it wasn’t possible. I miss my mother every day, still and she’s been gone for over thirty years. But, the fear women are experiencing is real and clearly understood. This is what racism and hate leads to and clearly the religious element to what is happening.

As we discussed during the meeting I am really glad this situation is bringing us together far more than it’s dividing us. Despite what the media reports on what is happening is bringing us together. Knowledge is power and that’s why they seek to deny it, suppress it. Trump thinks he is a king and he wants to run this country in an authoritarian way. The reality of a life that mimics the Handmaiden Tales is very real and probable if something isn’t done soon. I really wish we could do what I talked about during the meeting. I think there needs to be a purge that starts with stopping births. I wish something would happen that would sterilize both men and women preventing any more pregnancies. Then there needs to be a division in how and what defines a criminal. All acts that end life should be punished by death, unless it was an accident or self-defense. And then the value system needs to be weakened. At this point we could form now societies that embrace ideas that frown on immoral behaviors, such as domestic abuse, child abuse, and ethnic abuse and discrimination. The Housing situation is horrible in this country so a change to the value system that governs our society now needs to be drastically changed, a devaluing is how these is can accomplished. It is a dream I pray for all the time because this world is too cruel and we need to stop subjecting children to it, as well as stop rewarding some of these world’s most horrible people by making them unaccountable for their horrid behavior.

My comments here will be short as my heart is very heavy right now. I will say that I am glad to be a part of this group and I wish things could be the way Mason described here and during the meeting. I wish we could live in a world were hatred and oppression of any kind were prohibited. I’m glad we can all now see firsthand what is happening to minorities in this country, and I’m even happier to know that many white people don’t like, don’t agree, and will no longer condone what is going on. It is costing jobs, livelihoods, shaming, and holding accountable all those who commit ugly acts of racism, oppression, and injustices.

I miss many of the things most black people are subjected to because I pass for white most of the time. However, I am affected by the stories in the news, the things I hear, especially now. I listened to Obama, first speak at McCain’s funeral. Then I Friday he spoke in Illinois, and then on Saturday I heard him speak today. I think he was in California somewhere. Man, it feels good to hear a man speak that is truly honorable, truly presidential. I am glad many white people see for themselves, what black people have been crying out about forever. I’m tired of hearing how we have to work hard. Work our fingers to the bone and maybe, maybe we will get a small piece of the American pie. It’s been a long road for my ethnicity, the African part of my ethnicity. I will just be glad when we can finally be seen as equals and appreciated for the beauty we give the world all around.

I have always been disgusted by racism and racial motivated behavior that is harmful to innocent people. I have been further disturbed by the images we can now see on camera and film. I am glad we can see it now but I’m very upset that it actually is going on. It’s disturbing that other minorities think it’s all right come to America and treat Black people as bad as white people treat them in this country. The officer that shot that black man in his car was not white, yes he was light, and had fine hair, but he is not white. It is not all right to kill Black men simply because they are black. There is no reason to believe they are anymore violent than White men. In fact, statistics show the opposite so let’s stop acting like black me are so scary, so dangerous. They are no any more dangerous than any other man in this world. All the excuses are bullshit. They don’t pull over unarmed men and gun them down. They don’t put on law enforcement uniforms and sling young black girls to the ground and punch them in the face while in the back of a squad car or in broad daylight on the streets. I don’t know if trump is making this worse all I know is it’s ugly.

I didn’t believe all the stuff I heard black people say all my life. I thought they were making most of it up until I joined the police department. I didn’t need to see videos, see pictures. I knew this was going on, as far as officers treating minorities worse than they treat white people in all circumstances. It was a shock but something I never took part in. I couldn’t. Something in me just wouldn’t allow me to do many of the things I witnessed being done to minorities. I am glad there are camera’s now and I’m glad things can be put online in real time so there is no way to deny what happened. It’s tragic and it’s way beyond time for this kind of behavior to stop completely.
