I want to talk race seriously. I think too many of us haven’t dealt with how we honestly feel about the situation and it’s easy for White people to ignore the situation but listening to the victims on the Race in America really disturbed me. Black brothers and sisters talk about what they are saying is happening to them every single day.

I have left the department as well. I just don’t feel like it’s an honorable position anymore and the more the brutality goes unchecked and unacknowledged the less proud I am to be part of the institution. I mean law enforcement is maintaining the law not brutalizing and murdering unarmed defenseless unarmed minorities because we can. Black people pay taxes in this country too and they don’t deserve to have a law enforcement agency that does not protect them but instead is their biggest threat. It’s shameful and I don’t want to be a part of it. As an NFL fan I think it’s a shame they are expected to perform for fans in light of how badly black people are being treated by a organization that is supposed to be above such behavior. I want to be part of an honorable institution and right now, law enforcement in the US doesn’t appear to be honorable or admirable.

I kind of knew what the one White guy was saying. I was just more comfortable around white people because white people aren’t always in the news having encounters with the police in a negative way. I think the television and media do paint an ugly picture and shows like Cops and the 1st 48 absolutely don’t help improve how white American’s view minorities, especially African Americans. I getting past all that now but I know what that particular white guy was saying when he said he’s just more comfortable around other white people.

Yeah…I finding it hard to look at myself as well. As long as one officer is allowed to behave this way that is one officer to many and they are acting like gang members. If you ask me white gangs were the first deadly gangs in this country and you all know which ones I’m talking about. The ones that have always tormented minorities. There is too much sympathy for the bad officers than for the tax paying citizens who are being victimized. I gave notice as well after seeing the tape of what happened to the NBA player. I’m done. I tried to hang on but I can’t do it anymore. I tried telling myself I was a good officer but how are black people supposed to trust any of us when this kind of thing continues to be tolerated and allowed from what is supposed to be peace officers. Law abiding individuals setting an example of upstanding behavior. This isn’t an ordinary job, it is a admirable job as Adam said. How can anyone admire people who attack, beat down, and murder minorities simply because they can. I also think anyone who calls the police on a minority when they are clearly not doing anything wrong needs to start facing some type of consequences. These are very hateful people but it proves they know the police will be able to do what they cannot do, murder minorities and get away with it. That’s just disgusting.

Josh, Aaron...I don't recall my mother having the talk with me but I have had it with my son Terrill. In fact all the kids know they can't go to far with police, but I must say I think it's worse now than it's ever been. I am one to speak up to them and I now think I have been lucky. It's just not in our best interest to do or say anything that will provoke them especially if they pull us over at night.

Like Mark says the media focuses on what rises ratings. First of all we have to remember the 95/5 folks. That will always help keep human behavior in perspective. Must of humanity thrives in a follow mentality, they do not think for themselves, they do not understand or possess the ability of rational thought. This is mostly because they are too lazy to make the mental effort to think about things whether they are important or not. This explains how so many people could ignore their right to vote ad actually think it doesn’t matter. This are the fans who go with the flow. No, they don’t give what the players are silently protesting about, any thought. It requires to much mental exertions to elaborate on the sufferings of others. To question the motives of those in positions of authority. Anyone in their right mind knows what is going on in regards to law enforcement is wrong. I had son’s who planned to join one of the law enforcement agencies when they were young. That has drastically changed. Marc is leaving the police force he works for because of their refusal to openly address excessive police force targeting minorities, particularly black males. Terrill, has gone in a completely new direction as well upon learning the FBI is believed to be behind MLK’s murder, and it doesn’t help hearing they are destroying the lives of people who support Black Lives Matter, giving more weight to the idea they help suppress black voices by threatening to ruin or further cause hardships in the lives of African Americans. Nicki was going to join the FBI as well but has also changed his mind. Steph has never had a desire to be in law enforcement. They will maintain order but they are going to work for their uncle where they feel law enforcement will focus on fairness and honesty. Terrill just wants out of the country and I don’t blame him. I think I’ll rest easier if he’s no longer in the US running the risk of being murdered by a police officer.

I want to know about this talk so I have it with my sons. I fear for them so much in this country. The hate is to raw…to destructive.
