Since I wasn’t raised with an ounce of racism and I actually identify with black men more than I do white, I was afforded the unfortunate pleasure of seeing how badly this affects the lives of black people, the racism that continues to be a major factor in our modern society. I know what the one lady was saying when she said how helpless the police make them feel when they are innocent and their word does not matter and is immediately not believed. I’ve had to intercede for black friends on many occasions witnessing how they weren’t being heard. They don’t matter to law enforcement they are guilty until proven innocent. That’s how it is with black people and we all know it’s suppose to be the other way around. Honestly, do white people not see that trump is a thug, a criminal? Come the fuck on already.

We were given the talk on a regular basis and not just by our parents. I had a black teacher tell me to live my life so I had as little contact with the police as possible. She told me they don’t really care to help black people and she said the black ones are worse, then I saw “Boyz in the Hood” and realized she was absolutely right. Tony and I do talk to our boys about this as well and we allow the to see what is going on so they never doubt how badly things can go wrong when they have encounters with police.

From a psychological stand point this kind of disparity is severely mentally debilitating. I also watched the race special on MSNBC last Tuesday. I think what really tore at my heart was the black young man that talked about how he had to prepare to face the world every single day before leaving his apartment. He had go through a list of things to remind himself what was required of him throughout the day. Watch his tone. He had to speak in a way that could not be interpreted as in anyway threatening. I can’t imagine having to live like that. I don’t think white people have any real idea what the race as a whole, puts the members of the black race through, how truly awful it is, and what it is doing to their mental and emotional development, not good.

There was a time when I shared the feelings of the white guy that said he wasn’t racist he just preferred to be around his own kind. I felt that way. I was also affected how much black people had negative contact with the police. I know better now and I don’t feel that way anymore. I think we all need to start listening to each other that would really help. White people really need to put themselves in the shoes of black people, and based on what Ebony said, understand that in black communities the police primary function is to serve NOT PROTECT! That was profound for me. I can definitely see why and it’s somewhat staggering to realize the police don’t function in the same capacity for all citizens. This is evident.

You know what, this shit about sticking with a fucked up tribe is pathetic. We are all human beings damnit and it’s time to stop treating some humans as if they are not humans. It’s not all right! Let’s talk about how stupid doing this is. What real purpose does it serve at the end of the day? Who is really winning? Not society I tell you that. Look at who they elected into the top sit of the United States. A gangster folks and that damn Giuliani is a joke, a real one. Look at his base!
