I really am enjoying this activity. The look and the faces of the three young people entering our program is priceless. I really can’t describe how good it feels to make a significant difference in the life of someone who is really in need. This has been a very worthwhile adventure that really makes me feel good in my soul. I also enjoyed teaming up with Niobi and Vicki we had a very good time and I’m glad it was an experience we shared.

Adam and I worked with a local rehab center to see if we could assist someone desperately trying to reshape and rebuild their life. We were successful, finding three individuals struggling to stay of drugs and alcohol because they are homeless. This is a mandatory rehab facility which is basically detox. If a person is picked up for public intoxication, which includes being high from drug use, he or she is sent to detox. We kind of know what kind of people go to detox and we know many of them are using drugs and booze to stay warm or escape the horror of being homeless. Like many of you realized there are some who are reachable and some who are too far gone. We selected a male and a female we felt were reachable. Very worthwhile, emotional, and gratifying work.

Yeah Doug and me had a feeling we would find someone in one of these places and our hunch paid off. I just like feeling the power of the one true God that is so strong when you’re doing right. When you’re living right, and when you choose to do something worthwhile.

Well we took a trip to Texas to survey the damage. It was a group of us. Mark, Jay, Justin, and Jimmy the three Jays I called them    . On a serious note man…wooo. It’s a full feeling. My cup runeth over. I’ve never felt more gratified and humbled. I’ve never seen anything like what we saw in Houston. It was a reminder of how little we can stand up against Mother Nature. I must say if someone like me can recognize grace and be humbled, anyone can find their way out of the dark into the light.

He sure did keep calling us the J’s LOL. I’ll you folks something, I have never witnessed such devastation in my life. It’s on believable. Many people don’t know how they will start over most live from pay check to pay check. They have lost everything. It was overwhelming. I was the most effected. Carmine is a rock and both Mark and Jay are accustomed to seeing folks in this condition as they do this kind of thing all the time. They were both reminded of Katrina. I shock trembling hands of grown men who were literally afraid. I embraced trembling mothers and I marveled at Marks ability to provide spiritual comfort. We prayed with families and tried to comfort as many as we could. We passed out water and other food items. Mark selected two families to fund the rebuilding of their lives, their homes. Mason called her brother and told he was her hero. Man all I could do was wipe tears from my face because he finally teared up. Jay and Justin teared up as well and it drew others who also showed emotion. It was indescribable, a fullness like Carmine says and I recommend going out and doing something for someone who really needs it.

I decided to donate kid’s clothes to a family homeless facility. I have so much clothes and I usually give them to salvation army or goodwill, but after Mason said she took clothes to the homeless shelter I had to hunt down one that accepts families or single parent. It wasn’t easy there aren’t many of them. I’m trying to find out how to donate big stuff like furniture. We did some remodeling and I have a lot of good furniture I’d like to give away to families in need.
