I first want to say our sympathy goes out to all those family members who lost a love one in the past few days. As a white man married to a beautiful black woman. I have half black children that I love very much. I can't imagine having my sons shot down by law enforcement simply because they have golden brown skin and are presumed to be a threat from the onset. The facts remain that the lives of African American is not valued in the same way white American's lives are valued. Both shootings were unjustified and I am among those who are very tired of there being no consequences for these senseless killings. Make no mistake, the two murders of the African American men are the only two murders that were senseless.
Now, we do not condone violence and we believe the shootings in Dallas were tragic. However, we do not agree the shooter was senseless. He was angry and he had a right to be angry. He did not handle his anger well but he had every right to be angry. I'm angry. Every time I see that teenage boy crying about what happened to his father I am reminded that the shooter in Dallas did not act senselessly. He was frustrated, disheartened, and feed up. This blatant disregard for the lives of African American Males is spreading off our shores and reaching other countries who are advising their black citizens to use extreme caution when booking flights to the US. That speaks volumes to law enforcement's use of excessive force when it comes to African American males in this country. Asylum is being offered by some countries as they are very disturbed about this. So as the country rallies behind the officers who lost their life. Let us not lose sight of what lead up to this tragic event and it was not senseless.
